Our engine builder is the original legend in his own lunch-time otherwise known as Laurie Pettitt. He's far too ugly to photograph but his engines are in all of our hire vans. During the summer season they drive at least 500 miles every week - mostly up and down to Cornwall.

We prefer to re-build the original engines in our vans rather than exchange them for recon units. This way we enjoy a high original German parts content and a strong personal input to every engine we fit.

JUST IN - 4 new 1800cc type 4 engines (AN code) direct from the MOD. These were built by VW in 1980 and kept in reserve as spares. They have been regularly serviced and run for a total of 3 hours each. Fitted with 40mm carbs, higher spec cam and larger valves as standard they produce 85BHP - VW's most powerful version of this engine. Prices from £1500 fitted.
